Madrid, Part 3

Unfortunately this is my last blog post on the beautiful city of Madrid. *Sob*
But, what better way to kick it off than with a jaw dropping brunch?!
Federal is a charming cafe in the heart of Madrid that is run by some relocated and creative Aussie's.
And one thing that I found when I went to Australia is that when Aussie's do brunch, they do it well.

It was a busy weekend and luckily Katie & I managed to grab some seats on one of their big tables;  settling in to people watch with our iced coffees as all of the windows are large, open window seats right onto the streets.

Both of us went for the classic eggs, smoked salmon and avocado combo, I swear I have an addiction!
The food came out fast, was cooked perfectly and the was coffee strong and flavoursome, just how I like it.

Federal is a real gem that all of the locals head to religiously; if you're ever in the city, try and head over for at least a coffee and a slice of cake.

Since it was our last day, we weren't letting the heat deter us from adventuring around as much as possible. At 42C, the heat was becoming unbearable, but luckily for us Madrid has their own type of 'Boris Bike' that makes travelling a breeze.

I pootled along behind Katie as the electric bikes whizzed us through the streets and gave us a gentle breather with the breeze from the oppressing heat.

We whizzed through the park that we had sunbathed in on our first day, and explored the crystal palace that rather cooly comes with a pond full of turtles in front of it.

Rather inevitably, we ended our day by sipping on frappucinos in an cafe with strong air con before heading back to our flat for a little siesta...

Our last evening was spent on a Hotel Oscar's incredible roof top terrace, enjoying the sunset over the city and sipping on crisp white wine.

The following day was spent helping Katie to pack up all of her things after a year abroad in Madrid and sitting at the airport after a horrific eight hour delay... *Thank you, Ryan Air...*

Madrid is a stunning city with a vibrant, youthful atmosphere and a place that I will without a doubt visit again.

Has anyone else every been to Madrid? Or are keen to go?
